Robin Sorg

Robin Sorg was born and raised in Montana where her love of art began at an early age. She attended college in Seattle for commercial art and has worked as a freelance graphic designer and illustrator since 1991. Upon graduating, she immediately acquired her dream job in Seattle, but had felt something was missing. Shortly thereafter she was introduced to the native ways and discovered the inner peace she was seeking. She returned home to Montana’s Rocky Mountains, where she reconnected and found refuge in the stillness and vast beauty in every direction. One of her clients included Glacier Park, Inc. for which Robin created the graphics reintroducing the “See America First” campaign for its seven lodges and motels located in the Waterton-Glacier International Peace Park. In the last several years, with the encouragement of several fellow artists, she started paint-ing and displaying her works.

Robin’s art focuses on her connection with the animal and natural world: “They are raw and real, always offering a compassionate message that I wish to express through a simple brush stroke.” They present themselves to Robin in a particu-larly personal way, and she finds the privilege of giving her subjects voice and form as her way to honor them. “When I listen softly, they appear.”

“I blend the form and realness of my subject with an abstract approach to capture the sa-credness of that being. My intention is to involve the viewer in such a way that ignites their own imagination and opens the connectedness within.” Working primarily in acrylics, she explores texture, movement, and the relationship between the subject and its surrounding with her heart-felt expressiveness. Robin lives and paints in the beautiful Flathead Valley, which serves as her inspiration. Her work resonates with collectors and those who appreciate the inner and outer beauty of the natural world.

Robin’s work can be found at Frame of Reference in Whitefish and Persimmon Gallery in Bigfork.
