About the Exhibit
CELINDA ENGLISH has lived and worked in New York, Maine, and Washington, DC and has always loved the arts. She has been influenced by contemporary movements in textile, surface design, fashion, fine art and theater. Some of her favorite artists are Paul Klee, Robert Motherwell, Clyfford Still, Mark Rothko, and the master of color theory… Josef Albers.
Celinda enjoys using mixed media applications to create large scale designs that complement the architectural design of interior spaces. Her fashion background makes her very aware of current trends, but she also incorporates the western influences of sheer rock walls, ripples of the lake, and the colors and textures of the earth in her work. She likes to think her pieces “have an organically geometric quality”.
Celinda is 2011 Catch the Vision: From Dreams to Discovery winner. The Hockaday Museum of Art offers the winner of the competition a one-person exhibition to introduce her work to the community. Currently, Celinda runs her business Wallworks and maintains a studio in the Eastside Brick where she works on her art and teaches classes to students of all ages.
