George Ostrom -- Glacier DVD Wednesday, May 28, 7 to 9 PM O’Shaughnessy Cultural Arts Center -- Whitefish
Join us for a launch party for George Ostrom’s new DVD on the Seasons of Glacier National Park. Ostrom will give an oral narrative of his stunning photography depicting the four seasons of Glacier shot on his many hikes throughout the Park.
This event is presented in partnership with the Glacier National Park Fund.

Leaving the Hockaday at 1 pm -- Carpooling can be arranged. $10 suggested donation.

Explore the private studio of David Secrest, who forges metal into exquisite art. His works are characterized by unique patinas and patterns that require special tools created by Secrest himself. This working studio tour is a special opportunity you won’t want to miss!

Tour North American Indian Days In Browning -- Friday, July 11, 2008
Celebrate North American Indian Days with our neighbors in Browning!
We will travel to Browning in an air –conditioned motor coach with restrooms on board. Our day begins with a visit to the Museum of the Plains Indian where we’ll experience contemporary Native American Art and view the Museum’s excellent collection of historic artifacts. Next, a traditional Blackfeet meal in a Blackfeet lodge with Guide, Jim McNeely. Then, off to the Grand Entry to watch drumming and dancing, regaled in a magnificent display of traditional Plains Indian outfits. Our Blackfeet Guide will accompany us to interpret the drumming and dancing.

Docent-led Gallery Tours --
Every Thursday & Saturday 10:30am A trained Hockaday Museum Docent leads a gallery tour of current exhibits and “Crown of the Continent,” the Museum’s permanent Glacier Park Gallery. Learn some of the intriguing history of the artists, their subjects and the times that inspired their work.

The Hockaday's Traveling Medicine Show -- A collaborative project between the Hockaday Museum and artists-educators of the Blackfeet Nation to assist schools with implementation of the Indian Education for All Act, a statewide mandate. Three traveling cases: Ancient, Traditional and Contemporary, bring primary source artifacts, displays, hands-on activities, and Blackfeet facilitators directly to Native American Studies classrooms. Students explore the history, culture and traditional practices of the Northern Plains Indians and discover how each has influenced the other across time and territory.

On Senior Tour & Tea Days, the Hockaday Museum offers free admission and light refreshments all day, with a special gallery tour at 10:30am.

2008 Arts in the Park: July 25, 26, and 27 -- Click for your Online Application
As Northwest Montana’s largest and longest-running art & entertainment fair, Arts in the Park is a summertime favorite. This juried art show is a favorite for browsing and buying high quality jewelry, clothing, photography, paintings, pottery, glass, and other artwork.  This annual benefit for the Hockaday Museum of Art has  more than 100 booths with fine artists and craftsmen, along with a variety of  food vendors and great entertainment. Children will enjoy fun, hands-on art activities. Visitors of all ages will enjoy browsing the artistic creations of local, regional and national artists, watching exciting dance performances, listening to talented musicians, and eating fabulous foods.

The Hockaday Museum’s favorite annual event features original works of art created from a variety of media by members of the Hockaday Museum of Art. Museum visitors may vote for one piece win the People’s Choice Award. Winners are announced after the Art Walk & Christmas Stroll.   2007 Winners HERE

Artist-Wilderness-Connection Artist-in-Residence Program 
In 2003, the Bob Marshall Foundation, Flathead National Forest, Hockaday Museum of Art and Swan Ecosystem Center joined forces to create the Artist-Wilderness-Connection project, an artist-in-residence program that connects artists with the Flathead National Forest, the Hockaday Museum of Art, and area communities. The Application Deadline for 2008 was February 28
